Principal / Senior Principal Engineer Software - Test and Evaluation

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role, you will develop, integrate, test, document, and deliver software in support of system integration testing. The candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of difficult problems and drive to a solution while working in a supportive team environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, modify, maintain, and test software using software engineering best practices and standards
• Participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, application development, modular testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and upgrades
• Apply technical expertise in solving complex integration problems  
• Interact frequently with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers
• Leadership in Object Oriented Design and implementation
• Work in small team of diverse skill sets

Basic Qualifications (Principal):

• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 4 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM PhD and 0 years of related professional/military experience
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employment
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Basic Qualifications (Sr. Principal):

• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM PhD and 3 years of related professional/military experience
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employment
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands on experience with Modern C++ (C++11 at a minimum, hopefully C++14) within an Agile environment
• Active DoD Secret clearance (in-scope)
• Current Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)
• Experience with GTest (or equivalent) and Mocking software
• Writing modeling and simulation software
• Knowledge of software Design Patterns
• Familiarity with software management tools (e.g. JIRA, Bitbucket, Git, Subversion, Cmake)
