Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector, Software Engineering Group, Bethpage, NY is seeking multiple Software Engineers Level 3/4 to fill roles on the EA-18G Growler/NGJ Program.
As the lead developer of Software Engineering Products for some of the most advanced USN Platforms in the U.S. arsenal, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is a world leader in advanced software systems and design. These include platforms such as EA-18G Growler and Next Generation Jammer.
Position Summary / Responsibilities
- Will work on software systems for mission systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle, primarily in C++. Using Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices you will contribute to critical national defense products.
- Will be developing of innovative detection, estimation and classification algorithms and techniques for advanced applications. Participate in the development of innovative detection, estimation and classification algorithms and techniques for advanced applications.
- May be responsible for developing signal processing algorithms, waveforms and techniques that exploit and optimize radar, radio and EW architectures that take advantage of advanced radio frequency and processing technology.
- Should be able to interact with customers and development partners.
The right candidate should have the ability to perform concept and performance trade studies and demonstrate developed capabilities for streaming data application.
- Will be developing prototypes, and testing sensor models and signal processing algorithms in detailed high-fidelity simulations written in C++, and MATLAB.
Some travel required for meetings and program support, as well as integration and test and evaluation of system performance during deployment.
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work semi-independently to accomplish goals. Must be capable of understanding a complex problem, developing an approach to solve it, and implementing that approach.
Basic Qualifications Level 3:
- Principal Software Engineer (5+ years of software engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years for MS degree, 0 years for PhD).
- Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline
- Proficiency in C++
- Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience with digital signal processing, probability theory, stochastic signal processing, AI and/or machine learning
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Be collaborative, open, transparent, and team oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning and a culture of automation.
- Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

- Proficiency in C++
- Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience with digital signal processing, probability theory, stochastic signal processing, AI and/or machine learning
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Be collaborative, open, transparent, and team oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning and a culture of automation.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in algorithmic application development and optimization
- Experience in real-time embedded software development knowledge of Radar, Electronic Warfare, or Space technologies
- Experience with VxWorks and/or Linux Operating Systems
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Experience with Matlab
- Experience with Coverity and/or KlocWork tools
- Experience in Open Architecture Solutions
- Experience with the Atlassian tool set, kubernetes, Model Based Engineering, and DevSecOps best practices

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance, and Contract Award.
