Northrop Grumman Defense Sector (NGDS) is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for the Digital Sustainment and Modernization program to manage a team of developers, developing new and existing software products to support a sustainment ecosystem.
As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for a team of developers working on a variety of different projects, including maintenance management tools, engineering support software, and scheduling applications. You will be expected to spend time individually contributing to these projects as well. Software development will be performed in a C# .NET environment. Must ensure that performance and products conform to established software development standards. The Software Engineering Manager is required to provide leadership and guidance to the team while guiding development to deliver functionality, useability, reliability, performance, and supportability goals.
This position will be located in Oklahoma City, OK.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manages development efforts in DSME programs
- Responsible for the direct supervision/management of a staff of software developers
- Responsible for providing direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies
- Manager responsibilities include: planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of work on DSME products. Individual contributions will account for a portion of this job role.
- Product assignments will be received as a package of requirements or stories.
- Takes part in development and review of requirements.
- Uses established processes and tools (Atlassian products, MS Teams) to provide direction to subordinates.
- Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives.
- Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts.
- Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal external representatives concerning specifics operations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years of software development experience; Masters with minimum 4 years of experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- Full working knowledge of software engineering methodologies.
- Able to advise and mentor team members.
- Experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing Software Engineering teams
- Agile scrum project management experience
- Atlassian tools (e.g. JIRA and Confluence)
- Competence in C# .NET development, databases, operating systems, networks, and APIs.
- Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks
- Strong experience leading teams and training others.
- Experience with individual contributor performance assessments
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
