Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a C&L Wing Security Mission -System Engineering Manager 2. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
- As C&L SE&I Wing Security Mission System Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of approximately 12-15 systems engineers in executing the development of systems engineering artifacts which support the certification and accreditation needs for the C&L system. These engineers will be conducting C&L mission capability work scope related to the wing security mission scope of the Sentinel program.
- Responsible for providing technical guidance and decision making related to the health and progress of C&L architecture modeling and your assigned mission thread, to include requirements development and oversight, verification activities, OPSCON development and oversight, use case development, analysis modeling, and development of presentation materials suitable for Weapon System and C&L Working Groups.
- Will work with both the Program and Product Teams to develop and mature systems engineering content and artifacts using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methods. You will have an opportunity to work with teammates across a wide variety of disciplines and become intimately familiar with all aspects of Sentinel.
- Opportunities to present at milestone reviews to program leadership and the customer, to include Critical Design Reviews (CDRs) and Functional Configuration Audits.
- Will be expected to proactively coordinate with various teams to develop, document, and maintain design solutions. All job functions require close teamwork across technical disciplines and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in a fast-paced environment.
- Will be responsible for a Systems Engineering discipline Section within the SDS Systems Engineering functional organization and will report directly to an SDS Systems Engineering Department Manager.
- Will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy.
- Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects.
- As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your time on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on the technical assignment outlined above.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 6 years of experience; or Master's degree with 4 years of experience
- Active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
- 2 years experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- 2 years experience with Requirement development and management
- 1 year experience with MBSE Tools such as Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline with 8 years’ engineering experience or a minimum 6 years of related engineering experience with a Master’s degree
- Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to brief Segment, Program and Customer leadership
- Active Special Access Program (SAP)
- Experience in verification planning
- Ability to lead a team of approximately 12-15 engineers
- Experience with ICBM programs
- Experience with certification or accreditation activities such as airworthiness, nuclear surety, or cybersecurity
- Extensive MBSE experience (3+ years)
- Extensive experience with MBSE Tools such as Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody (3+ years)
- Experience with Agile Development
- Experience with DoDAF standards and methods
- Extensive experience with DOORS requirements management and verification planning
- Experience with Critical Design Reviews
- Experience with complex system development on large programs
- Proven performance as an Engineering Leader in all phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution. Candidate will require ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers
