Space Systems is currently searching for an experienced Principal Engineer Systems/Sr. Principal Engineer Systems to join the Systems Engineering Integration and Test team within the Launch Vehicle business unit to support business development efforts in Chandler, AZ.
This will focus all efforts to supporting incoming requests for proposals for the Business Development Group.
The candidate will perform Systems Engineering based analyses of supporting documents/requirements which will require the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
The candidate should possess strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document system level launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle performance assessments and participate in system level verification/data review activities pertaining to proposal documentation.
Regular interface with program management, engineering staff and external customers is expected.
The candidate is expected to provide independent systems engineering support leading proposal efforts parsing out all requirements for the proposal to the appropriate discipline and following up on successful completion of all disciplines submissions to ensure requirements are met.
The candidate will be a team player working with all disciplines and BD leadership to foster a collaborative environment.
The candidate should be willing to occasionally work during odd hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (greater than 40 hrs/wk) to meet deadlines.
The candidate should possess a strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training skills.
The candidate will be required to travel domestically on a periodic basis.
Creates and modifies management tracking reports for a variety of systems engineering performance parameters, resource metrics and design margins.
Provides data and support risk management as it pertains to proposal efforts.
Provides costing support for proposal submissions.
Supports creation of system architectures(s), system physical views - system elements (blocks) and critical interfaces (internal and external) to a level of maturity to meet proposal requirements.
Presents and prepares materials for presentation for proposal requirements review.
This position maybe offered at the Principal Engineer Systems Level 3 or maybe offered at the Sr. Principal Engineer Systems Level 4.
Basic Qualifications:
If offered at the Principal Engineer Systems Level 3:
This position requires BS Eng degree plus 5 years of experience; Masters degree plus 3 years of experience; PhD plus 0 years of experience.
If offered at the Sr. Principal Engineer Systems Level 4:
This position requires BS Eng degree plus 9 years of experience; Masters degree plus 7 years of experience; PhD plus 4 years of experience.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Ability to obtain a secret security clearance is required
Ability to travel 10% is required
