Principal Engineer Systems (IRBM/ICBM Program; Active Secret Clearance Required; Chandler, AZ)
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an experienced Principal Engineer Systems to support systems engineering efforts for the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile/Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (IRBM/ICBM) program as part of the Systems Engineering Integration & Test team in our Chandler, AZ office.
Role Description & Responsibilities:
The candidate will serve as a Systems Engineer for the IRBM/ICBM Program requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
The candidate should possess strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document system level launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle performance assessments and participate in system level verification/data review activities.
The candidate is expected to regularly interface with program management, engineering staff and external customers.
The candidate should be willing to occasionally work during odd hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (>40 hrs/wk) to meet deadlines.
The candidate should possess a strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training skills.
Implements and manages system requirements in the Requirements Management databases (DOORS).
The candidate will provide data for and assist in risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes.
The candidate will support system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, and failure/anomaly resolution.
The candidate will support the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation.
The candidate is expected to prepare and present materials at program major milestone meetings.
The candidate is expected to manage systems engineering activities, work products, and team dynamics using agile/scrum methodologies.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires BS in Engineering & 5 years or Masters in Engineering & 3 years or PhD & 0 years.
Candidate must have a DoD Secret level security clearance which generally requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite.
Ability to travel is required (<10%).
Preferred Qualifications:
A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems Engineering fundamentals is desired.
Experience with Northrop Grumman Space Systems LVBU Systems Engineering standards/guidelines and expectations is desired.
Experience with external customer interfacing (meetings, presentation, negotiation) is desired.
System testing and launch operations experience is desired.
