Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an experienced engineer for the role of Lead Systems Verification Engineer for Advanced Development Programs in our Chandler, AZ office.
The Lead Systems Verification Engineer will be cognizant of the overall vehicle subsystems, components, the interfaces, and requirements that drive the architecture design. The Engineer will interface with the IPT developing the program requirements and architecture products; Overseeing verification product development, ensuring all engineering disciples are collaboratively involved. To succeed in this role the ideal candidate must be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to work collaboratively with the IPT, both internally and with the customer, and with the Chief Engineer to resolve architecture issues as they arise both tactfully and in a productive manor. Candidate should have a demonstrated history of strong technical skills and demonstrated performance in developing solutions that consider cost, schedule, and technical risk as elements of the problem solution.
System Verification Lead Responsibilities:
The candidate will serve as a Lead Systems Verification Engineer for a small team of engineers (2-3) that will be dynamically allocated based on program tasking. The candidate will actively participate in a dynamic multi-disciplinary program team. The candidate is expected to provide leadership to the systems verification engineering effort including direct and in-direct management of engineers with limited oversight from engineering senior leadership personnel in a collaborative environment.
The candidate should be willing to lead or run special projects assigned by the program team and deliver results with minimal oversight.
The candidate should possess strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document system level launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle performance assessments, and participate in system level verification/data review activities.
Regular interface with program management, engineering staff and external customers is expected.
The candidate should possess a strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training skills. Willing to occasionally work during odd hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (>40 hrs/wk) to meet deadlines.
The candidate will be required to travel domestically on a periodic basis. (<25% per year).
Works closely with owners of specification/interface definition documents and develops verification requirements as the specifications are developed or revised.
Creates and modifies management tracking reports for verification metrics and presents to program IPT and customers at monthly management reviews.
Support proposal-writing efforts for Systems Engineering on a project.
Supports and leads verification testing and evaluation/validation events for the SEIT team.
Presents and prepares materials for presentation during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review.
Supports trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, Operations Analysis work such as mission analysis and timelines and CONOPS development.
Supports Flight Test activities in the office and in the field.
Performs cost estimates and project planning as a Cost Account Manager (CAM).
Basic Qualifications :
BS in Engineering with a minimum of 14 years related experience, master’s degree with 12 years of related experience or PhD with 9 years of experience.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Full Secret clearance is required for this position
This job requires daily on site work in Chandler AZ.
Ability to travel is required
Demonstrated Systems Engineering experience
Strong oral and written communication skill
Preferred Qualifications:
A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems Engineering fundamentals
Experience with Northrop Grumman Space Systems LVBU Systems Engineering standards/guidelines and expectations
Experience performing verification in hardware integration labs, utilizing simulation software, or demonstration testing.
Experience with external customer interfacing (meetings, presentation, negotiation)
System testing and launch operations experience.
Experience with Agile and Scrum
DOORS or CAMEO experience is desired
