Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Engineer Systems or Principal Engineer Systems to join the Systems Engineering Integration & Test team within the Launch Vehicles business unit located in Chandler, AZ.
This position will support the Next Generation Interceptor Program.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, and managing of the program's qualification test efforts. This Systems Engineer will support the Integration & Test teams with the development of qualification test reports, provide metrics to upper level management, and support execution of test readiness reviews. The individual may be required to support other Systems Engineering activities as needed by the program. This engineer will interact with other disciplines, customers, management and peers to ensure the qualification efforts will produce the right verification products. This includes Program requirements allocation to the Test Plan/Test Procedures.
Ad-hoc activities could include trade study activity, design decision coordination and process improvement initiatives.
Work on the model in CAMEO is expected to support the Qualification Program Manager and Operations activities.
Strong ownership and communication skills are necessary. Past experience with qualification efforts is preferred but not required.
This position may be offered at the Engineer Systems Level 2 or maybe offered at the Principal Engineer Systems Level 3.
Basic Qualifications for a Engineer Systems Level 2 requires:
- Bachelor of Science degree (STEM) plus 2 years of experience; Master's degree plus 0 years of experience
- Ability to obtain a Security clearance (SECRET or higher) which requires US Citizenship
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fluid position where tasking can change from day to day, depending on the need of the program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to solve problems and ask for information
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
- Ability to travel (approximately 10%) may be required
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Systems Level 3 requires:
-- Bachelor of Science degree (STEM) plus 5 years of experience; Master's degree plus 3 years of experience; PhD plus 0 years of experience.
- Ability to obtain a Security clearance (SECRET or higher) which requires US Citizenship
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical personnel
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
- Ability to travel (approximately 10%) may be required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with qualification efforts
- Experience with requirements management software (DOORS preferred)
- Familiarity with MBSE and CAMEO
- Experience mentoring junior engineers to drive technical solutions
- Experience determining team objectives through decomposition of program level schedules
- Familiarity with Telemetry Systems, avionics or mechanical systems
- Experience with vehicle integration and testing
- Experience working on DoD / MDA contracts
- Strong ownership of problems and ability to offer and implement solutions
- Desire to actively work toward process improvement and efficiency
