Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload & Ground Systems, Strategic Force Programs in Azusa, CA, is seeking an innovative Staff (Level 5) Systems Engineer to support System Engineering Digital Transformation initiatives across the organization. Candidate would support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), development of virtual simulations of real-world entities, organizational technical training, system requirements and architectural modeling, and requirements and verification in support of the development of space payloads and ground systems. The organization supports space-based surveillance systems for varied missions including missile warning/defense and environmental monitoring. A qualified candidate will collaborate with diverse engineering teams across the product lifecycle from pre-proposal through product development, delivery, and sustainment to assist in understanding customer solution intent, establishing and managing the technical baseline, supporting system modeling, and developing content for review milestones. This role will report on-site daily. We can accommodate partial telework, but is dependent upon business/program need.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with 14 years of related technical experience in a Space/Defense industry position, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field & 12 years of related technical experience in a space/defense industry
- Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD security clearance (US Citizenship Required)
- Expertise developing system models in SysML using tools such as Cameo
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS (Classic or Next Gen)
- Broad background in digital engineering technologies with an understanding of the processes and tools available to create virtual representations of physical systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in a Space/Defense industry position
- Active & current DoD security clearance
- Experience with Modeling & Simulations tools such as STK, Simulink, and Matlab
- Experience with generating reports in Cameo utilizing VTL (Velocity Template Language)
- Experience/exposure to DODAF modeling and generating customer-delivered DODAF views
- Experience with related OMG schema such as the UML Testing Profile
- Experience with modeling cyber-physical (hardware & software) solutions
- General experience working with customer to derive requirements and perform trade studies
- General experience developing a technical training curriculum
- Experience in an Agile modeling environment
