Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr Staff Systems test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role will be located in Palmdale, CA
The Palmdale System Integration Lab team is looking for a System Software/Hardware Integration Lead with an emphasis on networking and virtual environments to help shape the future of Strike systems.
In this role, you will collaborate and consult with a highly qualified team of engineers to develop architecture diagrams and products within a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment. You will work with software and systems engineers, as well as with program and IPT leadership, to capture and communicate mission needs, assess candidate architectures, and develop architecture products.
Key Responsibilities:
This position requires a highly experienced subject matter expert in the field of integrating complex multi-domain aerospace systems.
The role will primarily focus on working with design team and lab architecture team to ensure successful integration of new hardware and software in a lab test environment, and be responsible for synthesizing and translating program requirements into lab specific configurations.
The position will provide expertise to the program as it matures and progresses to later stages of testing.
This position will lead a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and test personnel that will be integrating, installing, and maintaining the IT, avionics, and payload infrastructure required to support the system test effort.
The role may include interfacing with external customer technical representatives, internal engineering associates and program management.
This may include collaboration with design teams for requirements flow down, management, and verification, generating complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities.
Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and team building skills are essential.
Successful candidates are comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced, aerospace team environment while possessing technical proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and ability to interface across the different engineering teams.
This position will require close collaboration with team members of other functional teams as well as working with the program to meet the customer’s needs

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of relevant engineering experience , Master’s Degree with 12 years of relevant engineering experience OR 9 years with a PhD.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 5 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time frame to meet business needs.
- Experience as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Technical lead, or other leadership role with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant experience with hardware/software lifecycle and ability to lead design efforts, design test & evaluation, and/or transition designs into production.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS with SCI
- Knowledge of native cloud computing foundation and cloud-based environments.
- Familiarity with software architecture development and testing, using modern cloud-based and open architectures and platforms
- Familiarity with Agile software development methods and processes.
- Cyber architecture and Platform One
- Experience with DoDAF and Open Mission Standards
- Experience with object oriented programming, design patterns, JMS, Web Services, XML and related technologies (i.e., XPath, XSLT, XSD)
- Experience developing enterprise solutions for a SOA environment
- Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Experience in development and maintenance of interface control documents and related processes
- Experience with various technical analysis tools such as MATLAB and STK
- Experience with Mission Operations for aerospace systems
- Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems
- Experience in any of the following areas is also desired: payload integration, avionics or digital electronics integration, risk analysis, communications, or aerospace integration and testing
- Work experience working in software development
- Work experience working in network development
- Work experience with ground based command and control systems
