Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Electronics Engineer or Sr Principal Electronics Engineer located at Palmdale, CA.
Duties include planning and managing work priorities and deadlines, overseeing adherence to company/government policies and procedures, and ensuring that quality and safety standards are met. This position is also responsible for managing technical risk, cost and reporting regularly to Flight Test leadership team on performance. Daily responsibilities include supporting ground segment configuration, documentation, and scheduling to specific requirements. Additional responsibilities include supporting annual procedure updates and audits to meet customer instructions. This engineer will have professional interaction with all levels of company leadership, as well as customers, concerning operations, scheduling, and specific phases of the test program. Some travel may be required to support specific programs, ground operations, or special tests. This position is on 1st shift but may occasionally support 2nd shift or 3/10 shift as necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensuring ground segments serve mission objectives and mechanisms are in place to execute the tests.
- Oversees the operational aspects of engineering tests and serves as liaison to program, engineering and line management.
- Coordinate system checkout, maintenance, troubleshooting, technical engineering support, and anomaly resolution with system safety and quality to maintain the operational specifications of the subsystem.
- Reviews status of test requirements, manages schedules, and prepares reports.
- Selects and supervises system admins and subcontractor engineers during test.
- Assesses anomalies and develops resolutions to documented procedures in conjunction with Test and Quality Engineering.

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for a Principal level (3) are:
- Bachelor’s degree with a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline, and a minimum of 5 years systems engineering experience. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other STEM related degree and a minimum of 3 years of systems engineering experience. PHD with 0 years of engineering experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 5 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).
- Experience working with electronic systems.
- Experience creating, editing and executing test procedures.
- Experience integrating systems in flight test lab.
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal level (4) are:
- Bachelor’s degree with a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline, and a minimum of 9 years systems engineering experience. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other STEM related degree and a minimum of 7 years of systems engineering experience. PHD with 4 years of engineering experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 5 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).
- Experience working with electronic systems.
- Experience creating, editing and executing test procedures.
- Experience integrating systems in a flight test lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active in-scope Top Secret (reviewed in the last 6 years)
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and make decisions that impact the organization’s credibility, operations, and services.
- Documented ability to interpret numerical data for reporting purposes and prepare and analyze data and figures.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment.
