Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Communications Payload Systems Engineering & Cost Account Manager. This position is responsible for leading IPT managers and individual contributors supporting business, schedule, I&T integration, and risk/opportunity tracking.  This CAM role manages ~$180M scope with ownership of the payload portfolio sales ~$500M across the programs within the Business Unit.  There are 5 reporting IPT managers into this role, ~45 heads within the monthly CAM responsibility, and a staff of 4 full-time personnel.

The Payload SE CAM is responsible for staffing and guiding the team through payload and subsystem integration and requirements sell-off.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cultivating customer relationships and intimacy to develop further opportunities within the customer community
  • Developing new business opportunities through long term strategic planning, capture planning, and development of proposals and business plans
  • Identifying, allocating and managing program resources, including workforce planning
  • Leading Integrated Program Teams (IPTs) to meet program cost, schedule and technical performance objectives
  • Establishing design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for payload development, integration and test
  • Identification, distribution, tracking, and verification of payload requirements for sell-off
  • Development and adherence to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost & schedule control methodologies and tools
  • Adherence to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards
  • Conducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 9+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 7+ years of engineering experience OR PhD Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical leadership/lead role
  • Cost Account Management experience
  • Domain experience with spacecraft or space systems and communications payload integration
  • Experience in developing, managing, and decomposing requirements
  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Dept. of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 5 years OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Strong People and Technical Leadership Skills
  • Excellent communication skills (upward and downward)
  • Experience managing a technology portfolio of approximately $500 million
  • DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI access

Salary Range: $176,100 - $264,100
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
