We have an opening for either a Systems Engineer or a Principal Systems Engineer to join our talented, diverse team. We are seeking a team member who wants to solve interesting, complex problems to help protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.
What you’ll get to do?
As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a very fast-moving team to help design, model, and develop the ground system for the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) low earth orbit constellation for SDA’s Tranche 1 constellation. The constellation is a mesh network of 126 optically-interconnected SVs that will provide a resilient, low-latency, high-volume data transport communications system that will be launched starting in September 2024. In this role, you will be interacting with the customer, other stakeholders, and leadership to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission and overall vision. SDA’s vision is to deliver a minimum viable product on time, every two years to the warfighter by employing spiral development methods.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform system analysis, requirements analysis, and functional analysis
- Develop software & hardware specifications for the ground segment
- Develop models to include logical/physical/functional diagrams to support Model-Based Engineering (MBSE) efforts
- Work independently and across multi-disciplined/multi-site teams to architect, model and analyze the ground system against customer requirements
- Demonstrate a Systems thinking mindset
- Be capable of understanding a complex problem, developing an approach to solve it and documenting that approach to implement
- Participate/Lead and coordinate preparation, conduct and close out for internal and external customer reviews (PDR, CDR)

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in STEM
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
- Knowledge of Systems Architecture
- Knowledge of MBSE (CAMEO, Sysml, UML, DODAF)
- Knowledge of Requirements and Verification & Validation Activities
- Knowledge of DOORS
Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
- Knowledge of Systems Architecture
- Knowledge of MBSE (CAMEO, Sysml, UML, DODAF)
- Knowledge of Requirements and Verification & Validation Activities
- Knowledge of DOORS
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or advanced degree in Systems Engineering
- Active DoD TS/SSBI clearance
- Certificate in SysML and/or DODAF
- DOORS experience including automation (DXL)
- Experience with generating customer-delivered DODAF views
- Experience with modeling cyber-physical (hardware & software) solutions
- Experience in an Agile modeling environment
