Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a highly experienced Manager, Field Engineering Services 1 to represent the interests of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class Mission Package (MP) program as the Functional Manager for Mission Module Readiness Facility (MPSF) at San Diego California.
The Manager, Field Engineering Services 1 will be responsible for daily leadership and supervision of NON-Exempt employees assigned at the MMRC. This position will be a collateral duty along with the selected candidate’s current position. A key component of this position will include interfacing with customer counterparts, leadership personnel at other sites, and related worldwide shore-based entities.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal/leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to work with and satisfy internal and external customers and suppliers as well as a demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Candidates should demonstrate effective presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate initiatives, plans, and expectations. Applicants should be proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, and use of US Navy software systems.
- Successful candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to the Northrop Grumman business Code of Ethics, the ability to lead others, build teams, and create an environment of continuous improvement.
- Successful candidate must be able to work flexible and changing shift schedules; day or night shifts, including weekends if necessary. This position will oversee 24-hour operations.
- Ensures strong and open relationships with employees- keeping them informed and morale high.
- Provide team guidance and leadership regarding business processes, best practices, and output metrics for work requests and associated documentation.
- Drive timely and clearly communicated decisions and recommendations to area management and customers.
- Provide weekly and monthly metrics reporting and opportunities for improvement
- Interface with other departments to ensure other program needs are supported
- Mentor less experienced team members
- The selected candidate should steadfastly push self and others to achieve deliverables and goals, feel comfortable providing customer overviews, and be an advocate for a safe and professional work environment. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in diverse circumstances with the ability to anticipate roadblocks and be comfortable in an environment that provides challenging assignments to key talent in the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree.
- Must have a current active DOD Secret to be considered
- Must have advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and the ability to effectively communicate with various levels of leadership
- Demonstrated experience in a lead capacity
- Must be available to work any shift
- Must have LCS Program Access
- Travel 10 - 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a government maintenance or operations/assembly environment
- Previous experience managing suppliers
- Demonstrated history leading and management of multi-functional teams
- Practical working knowledge of LCS Class program
- Familiarity with electronic work instructions, safety policies and quality procedures
- Proven experience planning and executing preventative and corrective maintenance availability activities on U.S. Navy ships
- Practical experience in Navy maintenance to include Ship’s Maintenance and Material Management (3M), Preventive Maintenance, and Corrective Maintenance specifically SKED and MFOM AWN respectively
