Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr Principal Architect Systems Engineer that leverages Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to support the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye program's architecture on-site in Melbourne, FL. The architect systems engineer will work in the development of systems engineering models to capture architecture baselines, accelerate systems engineering efforts on new capability development programs, and work as part of a team driving digital transformation to model-based practices within the enterprise.
The engineer's efforts are as follows:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills as frequent interactions with the customers and other IPTs are expected. You must be able to provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of system engineers in the areas of aircraft systems, weapons systems, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). You must be a team player capable of applying your experience and leadership to add value to a common model-based engineering plan and approach.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. This role is contingent upon an active DoD secret clearance and ability to obtain Special Access Program clearance prior to start.

Basic Qualifications:
• Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience OR 3 years of related engineering experience with Master of Science Degree in a STEM discipline OR a PhD in STEM.
• Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with a minimum of 9 years of related engineering experience -OR- Master’s Degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience -OR- Ph.D. Degree in STEM and 4 years of related engineering experience
• Active DoD Secret security clearance and ability to maintain
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
• Experience in Systems Engineering
• Experience in SysML
• Experience in Presenting
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Cameo
• Experience in support of the integration of aircraft systems including integrated cockpit systems, automatic flight control systems, and other assorted avionics systems.
• Avionics engineering experience with flight control systems, displays, and mission computers
