Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking to fill a Systems Engineering Manager 1 position under our Remote Sensing Programs Systems Engineering Organization within the Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) Division at Rolling Meadows, IL. The selected candidate will manage a diverse team of systems engineers performing system design, system analysis, system requirements allocation and management, system modeling and simulation, supporting developing and maintaining the system-level testing process during all phases of product development and manufacturing including system integration and qualification of our Payload and Ground Systems product lines and programs.
The responsibilities associated with managing a team include:
Leadership for support and adherence to standard SEIT processes
Oversight of cost, schedule, and technical quality for SEIT execution on supported programs
Provide technical contributions on assigned programs, including subject matter expert reviews for major milestone events (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.). SEIT support as an individual contributor, and leadership of root cause and corrective action analysis as required.
Support to hiring, staffing and workload forecasting including identification and training of skills required to execute on programs
Provide employee mentoring, career development, and training opportunities
Management and execution of employee performance review processes
Creating an inclusive and engaging environment that promotes employee retention
Support MBSE, Common Product Architecture (CPA), and Agile implementation that provide a competitive advantage for our customers.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline
Minimum of 5+ years (3+ years with MS or 0 with PhD) of relevant professional experience, preferably in an aerospace or defense-oriented engineering environment
Experience in managing a team of employees, management of project work, and current software technologies/tools
Must be experienced in all aspects of the systems engineering process, from requirements analysis through verification testing and have proven demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
High proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Candidate must work on-site in a SCIF and be able to support up to 10% travel
Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI clearance
Functional management experience leading teams, especially in a Systems Engineering, Technology Development or Systems Development role
A proven history of technology development including technology/product conception and development activities through technology readiness levels (TRL 1-7)
Experience with EO/IR/RF systems: sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, or related defense system
Experience in all aspects of the engineering process / lifecycle, from requirements analysis through verification testing
Background and understanding in various tools and techniques associated with cost/schedule management
Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office, MATLAB, Simulink, Model Based Engineering (MBE), and Agile techniques
