The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department is seeking a Sr. Principal Factory Automation Engineer to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.
What You’ll Get To Do :
Architect and develop custom solutions to bridge the gap between COTS software packages and internal applications.
Define requirements, author code, test and deploy custom solutions to factory automation systems.
Analyze needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications.
Work with suppliers to implement application suggestions and demonstrate early success with minimum viable product proofing.
Perform root cause analysis for application failures and implement solutions
Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and verbal format.
Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
This position requires full-time work onsite at our Linthicum/Annapolis Junction, MD locations.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Factory Automation Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience.
Strong understanding of software programming, concepts of Software Engineering or Systems Engineering specifically software integration.
Experience in modern programing languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.)
Strong organizational and project management skills, able to execute independently and with a small team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required.
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications for Sr. Principal Factory Automation Engineer:
Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance per business requirements.
Experience in high volume automated manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs.
Experience working with SECS/GEM protocol and other SEMI standards utilized in factory automation.
Experience with Request for Proposal (RFP) input specifically as it relates to Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) requirements such as tooling, capital equipment and/or new process development.
Highly skilled in modern programing languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.)
Understands the differences in data representation between products, plans, recipes, and varying levels of manufacturing containers (lots, wafers, die, etc.).
Has worked with Applied Materials SmartFactory Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) solution.
