Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill a Principal Systems Engineer/Senior Principal Systems Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a new Ground program.  This position can be filled at Morrisville, NC, Fairfax, VA, Linthicum, MD or Aurora CO.

What you’ll get to do?

 As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for a Ground Segment. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission, ensuring everything is synchronized.  

We have multiple Systems Engineering positions across the Ground program, on contract to deliver the ground segment for a restricted space program. This work will span command and control, mission planning and scheduling, mission processing, and system infrastructure. We have anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities. 

The successful candidate will have broad Systems Engineering lifecycle knowledge, with the ability to digest changes and present them to the technical and management teams in concise briefings.  The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment, to be highly self-motivated, reporting information to IPT leads, and the customer. The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions and working in a very collaborative and fast paced environment that continues to grow. Experience with system modeling is preferred. 

Qualifications

This position may be performed at a Principal Systems Engineer level or Senior Principal Systems Engineer level depending on the qualifications, skills, and experience of the candidate.

Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree

Senior Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree

Basic Qualifications: 

• Must be a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI

• Familiarity and direct experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts

• Familiarity with Cameo

• Experience with requirements mapping and analysis

• Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers

Preferred Qualifications:

• Polygraph (CI or FSP)

• Familiarity with space vehicle ground segment design

• Experience with Agile development

• Familiarity with DOORS

• Excellent technical writing and team building skills
