Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to find a Systems Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program.
This position may be at our Morrisville, NC, Aurora CO, Fairfax VA, or Linthicum MD sites. (Compensation varies per location)
The Systems Engineering team supports the program by identifying and analyzing requirements, designing and developing a system to satisfy those requirements, and managing the system throughout the program.
Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Develop engineering requirements for the Ground Segment
System integration, verification, and validation
Model-Based Systems Engineering work in Cameo
Develop system interfaces and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for the program
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Implement engineering changes to the system as required
Take initiative in a fast-paced work environment
Collaborate with teams located at different sites
This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.
This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4, depending on the candidate’s experience as laid out in the basic qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment.
Basic Qualifications
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at time of application
Must have a completed STEM degree [a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics]
Level 3 (Principal):
5 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM)
3 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's (STEM)
1 Year of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. (STEM)
Level 4 (Sr Principal):
8 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM)
6 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's (STEM)
4 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. (STEM)
Must have above minimum experience on the below:
Background in requirements derivation, decomposition, and traceability throughout a system
Experience presenting engineering changes to review boards
Experience gathering and managing stakeholder expectations
Experience in creating and managing various design documents
Ability to produce milestones deliverables and presentations
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Basic familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA and Confluence)
Basic familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in an Agile team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Rational DOORS for requirements management
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering in Cameo
Experience with Agile Framework and the various ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Reviews, Scrums, Retrospectives, Refinement)
Verification and Validation of requirements
Testing tools and automation experience
