We are seeking a cleared or clearable Engineering Manager for a critical role in our engineering organization to be responsible for managing a team and ensuring successful completion of projects.
This is a dual (75/25 split) role position, involving direct functional management of a talented team of high performing multi-discipline engineers as well as technical engineering leadership for technically advanced development programs to produce cutting edge hardware and/or software products at the Beavercreek Ohio facility that supports National Defense partners. The products produced at this facility support all domains of intelligence and defense battle-spaces including land, sea, air, cyber, and space. Many of the problem-sets our customers expect us to solve do not have known solutions, so ingenuity is essential.
The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple relevant technology areas, such as embedded system software development, RF hardware development, electromechanical packaging, FPGA firmware development, and/or DSP algorithm development. Ideal candidates for this position have extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in all aspects of engineering. Less experienced candidates that demonstrate high technological aptitude with a willingness and desire to learn are equally qualified for this position.
Your direct (functional) management responsibilities will include:
- Managing and guiding (12 to 15) multi-discipline engineers
- Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team
- Being responsible and accountable for managing the workload of your direct reports
- Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring top-ranked engineering talent
- Providing timely, constructive support and feedback to your reports on a regular basis
- Completing semi-annual performance assessments of your team members
- Motivating your team members (engagement) and facilitating regular meetings with them
- Providing mentoring and career development to each team member
- Coordinating training for each team member
- Providing appropriate tools and resources for your team’s development activities
Your technical engineering leadership duties will include:
- Leadership of program technical execution in order to meet cost and schedule constraints
- Program staffing for optimal execution
- Technical direction, guidance, and mentoring of project team members for designing and implementing Future Precision Navigation and Timing (FPNT) hardware systems
- Working programs, proposals, or internally-funded activities in a technical or leadership role
- Risk-mitigation planning and execution
- Strategic problem solving
- Earned value management
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 5 years of experience; OR 3 years of experience with a Masters (MS) degree; OR 0 years of experience with a PhD
- Demonstrated technical leadership, engineering management, and/or program management experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current, active Top Secret clearance
- Diverse technical experience across engineering fields such as Mechanical, Electrical and Software
- Experience with design and development of Positions, Navigation and Timing (PNT), Electronic Warefare, and/or mixed signal technologies
- Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDR) systems for GPS, GNSS, and other cooperative signals along with advanced signals processing techniques
- Experience with architecting, developing, and integrating real time embedded software for GPS Receivers
- Experience with FPGA-based systems for signal processing applicants
- Experience as a technical lead, functional lead, and/or leadership in the military
- Experience in multiple relevant technology areas
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent
- M.S., M.B.A., or other advanced degree
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
