Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a AVE Segment Lab Instrumentation Senior/Principal Test Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel – Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
- Work with test planning teams to refine test methodologies required for verification and validation of segment-level requirements.
- Ensure instrumentation plan alignment to segment test philosophies and adherence to program and security requirements.
- Oversee instrumentation operations to Ensure successful acquisition of data to fulfill test plan instrumentation plans and data analysis plans.
- Develop standardized processes, policies, and procedures for lab instrumentation, including configuration control of all software tools.
- Manage all instrumentation activities and enhancements from cradle to grave, including developing requirements, project planning, managing cost/schedule, and ensuring technical objectives are met.
- Participate in technical planning, verification and validation development, cost and risk considerations, and requirements analyses for integrated systems to ensure instrumentation requirements are identified

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Principal System Test Engineer:
• 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience using Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) principles with software similar to CAMEO
• Minimum 2 years designing or operating instrumentation or test equipment
• Knowledge/experience with AF Test Directive 99-103
• Experience with ICBMs (MM, PK, Small Missile) or DOD programs
Senior Principal System Test Engineer:
• 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience using Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) principles with software similar to CAMEO
• Minimum 2 years designing or operating instrumentation or test equipment
• Knowledge/experience with AF Test Directive 99-103
• Experience with ICBMs (MM, PK, Small Missile) or DOD programs
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Bachelors degree or higher in Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, 5 Years; or 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
• US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
• Excellent leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of system integration and test principles and processes
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, DOORS database, requirements decomposition and allocation
• Collaborate with other IPTs to define test objectives and test requirements for test activities in the Hardware in the Loop Labs.
• Support to develop, plan, and execute qualification and acceptance test plans, as well as supporting design and test reporting and reviews
• Experience developing and updating detailed integration test plans (ITP)
• Experience generation of test procedures and test readiness reviews (TRRs)
• Experience creating test Concept of Operations (ConOps) flows that maximizes the utility of test resources while meeting schedule and technical requirements and/or constraints
• Generate and support test data decomposition and test reports to other IPTs. Assist in consolidating and processing of final test data for requirements verification/model validation sign-off
• Minimum 2 years designing or operating instrumentation or test equipment
• Experience coordinating integrated testing activities with multiple test teams.
• Strong understanding of entire product lifecycle, modeling and engineering best practices
