DARC is a global network of three next-generation ground sensors, based in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Together, they will deliver a unique 24/7 all-weather capability, tracking objects in geosynchronous orbit - a testament to Northrop Grumman’s commitment to enhancing security and safety in deep space on a global scale.
About the role:
As an Operator Maintainer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) project at the DARC facility. This role focuses on maintaining the building’s mechanical plant, HVAC, engineering services (such as power, lighting, hydraulic systems and air conditioning), landscape and facilities. You will work closely with both on-site and remote teams to ensure all preventive, emergency, and corrective maintenance tasks ensuring quality outcomes, and safety performance requirements of the DARC Program are met.
This exciting opportunity will require relocation to Exmouth, Western Australia and come with comprehensive relocation assistance and attractive remote working allowances to support your transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration maintenance as part of the O&M team.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, maintain safe work practices, and ensure quality oversight of contractor works.
- Log and report on completed maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Manage procurement of equipment, parts, and materials required for maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with both local and remote O&M teams, ensuring seamless communication and project integration.
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance using both in-house staff and external contractors.
- Engage with stakeholders across Australia and the US to support the successful integration of project hardware.
About You:
- Trade qualifications in mechanical, refrigeration, and/or electrical disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as part of a team, and in remote environments.
- Previous experience in working in the power/ energy industry and or defence will be advantageous.
- HV Switching Ticket and/or Refrigerant Handling License is highly desired but not essential for the role.
- Experience with systems engineering, design, and certification processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and risk management.
- Experience in construction and commissioning of communications infrastructure is highly regarded.
