Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, Combat Systems and Mission Readiness Division is seeking a dynamic Capture Manager 3 to support the C4 Missile Defense Business Unit (C4MD BU). The primary location will be in Huntsville, AL but may sit at one of our Northrop Grumman sites in Northern Virginia (McLean, VA or Falls Church, VA). The successful candidate will be a self-starter with experience winning captures/proposals. Must be adept at quickly understanding what is required to win, developing compelling value propositions, and preparing strong business cases to leadership. Must have proven strong team leadership skills and writing abilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading capture efforts to secure new or re-compete contracts or task order business
  • Developing capture strategy and tactics including business solution for pursuit of opportunities with a solid business case and ROI
  • Identifying potential customers based on a strategic portfolio alignment
  • Developing relationships with teaming partners and industry associations to help drive partnerships
  • Maintaining strong interpersonal and presentation skills that convey confidence and domain knowledge.
  • Developing competitive assessments, teaming strategies, and prices-to-win analysis results applied to improve competitive posture
  • Participating in bid and proposal activities to deliver compelling and compliant proposals
  • Maintaining on-going interactions with all stakeholders and functional organizations that provide input to a program pursuit
  • Possess a high energy level and be an open communicator/collaborator to all levels of the organization
  • Be able to communicate effectively with Executive Management
  • Be dedicated to the team and business area
  • Have a willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
  • Demonstrate integrity beyond reproach
  • Be able to work independently with limited supervision and meet company requirements and work in a fast paced and challenging environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical or business discipline and a minimum 10 years of combined experience with federal government business and operations procurement activities OR a High School diploma and 14 years of related experience combined experience with federal government business and operations procurement activities
  • Experience in Business Development and submission of responsive captures/proposals with an ability to build and lead teams with a vision for success and capable of delegating responsibilities to the appropriate team members
  • Demonstrated strategic capture experience and a proven track record as a respected functional team leader
  • Demonstrated skills in planning and program operations knowledge addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package
  • Familiarity with the various Customer organizations including acquisition contracting
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time, including international travel
  • Must be US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working international captures/proposals at NGC
  • Proven win record on bids over $100M
  • Master’s degree in Engineering/Business Management/etc
  • Working knowledge of the competitive marketplace including prime bid tendencies
  • Strong existing relationships with division/BU and functional organizations including business management, contracts, supply chain, technology, and human resources
  • Credentials across all phases of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) to include strategy, opportunity shaping, identification, qualification, capture, bid, and keep sold activities
  • Expertise and/or experience working with international customers and industry
  • Active Secret security clearance


Salary Range: $160,000 USD - $215,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
