Northrop Grumman Chief Information Office is seeking a Staff Strategic Planner to join the CIO Strategy & Planning organization, reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning.  Position will be located in Falls Church, VA.

Northrop Grumman Chief Information Office Strategy Team is seeking to hire a Staff Strategic Planning. The selected individual will support and lead the development and communication of the sector’s long range Strategic Plan, corporate and sector level strategy deliverables, strategy communications, and integrated investment plan. Additionally, this individual will perform in-depth analysis of our environment, customers, and competitors; identification of key strategic issues, impacts, and actions required by the sector; development of the sector strategic direction and supporting strategic analysis; and development of options and paths.

The selected applicant will become a trusted member of a team responsible for developing and managing the NG CIO’s strategic plan and investment portfolio, providing relevant analyses to senior management, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and enabling NG CIO’s core objectives through the innovative and strategy-driven alignment of investments to strategy.  

The Staff Strategic Planner will have a strong understanding of the key value drivers and industry dynamics of the Aerospace and Defense industry, the ability to self-start in a fast-paced organization, and the skills to evaluate and assess strategic priorities and options in order to optimally shape the NG CIO investment portfolio. The successful candidate supports the Strategic Planning Team to support the development and of service-line, PMO, and functional strategies with align with Sector Strategy that position NG CIO to achieve its long-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct strategic assessments of financial plans, markets, competitors, pipeline, etc. to support the development and shaping of the Sector’s multi-year investment portfolio in alignment with overall NG CIO strategy

  • Support new development and maintenance of capabilities, strategic frameworks, and tools to prioritize, de-emphasize, shape, and manage the overall portfolio

  • Develop and administer multi-year investment plans on a continuous, agile planning cadence

  • Use quantitative methods including modeling to assess investment scenarios, proactively manage investment execution, and to support decision making

  • Support financial and business case analyses of proposed Division investments across the Sector

  • Develop presentations/briefings to executive leadership and senior stakeholders


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience, or Master’s degree with a minimum of 13 years of professional experience

  • Knowledge of, and experience in, strategic assessment, strategy development, or financial analysis

  • Knowledge and experience in the Aerospace, IT, and/or Defense Industry

  • Demonstrated experience with developing communications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau) for and to be presented to all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrates executive presence when interacting with all levels of the organization

  • Robust experience with MS Office Suite, specifically Teams, PowerPoint, Excel and Tableau

  • Experience working with cross functional teams

  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in strategic planning, portfolio development, and/or strategic assessment

  • Strategy and data analytics experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry

  • Experience in a consulting role

  • Strong business acumen; ability to clearly communicate recommendations and analysis to senior level leadership

  • Experience in data analytics and visualization, including relevant tools, languages, and environments

  • Understanding of Northrop Grumman policy, process, and products

  • Current active DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance

  • Experience with Agile Safe.

Salary Range: $141,800 USD - $212,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
