We are seeking an experienced Defense Industry Analyst proficient in collecting, processing, integrating, analyzing, and presenting market information and competitive intelligence from multiple disparate data sets to allow for data-driven strategic business decisions. This individual will lead transformation of raw data into actionable information through effectively communicating data driven insights and creation of intuitive data visualizations for executive level consumption. They must possess the strong analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for quickly developing recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative data from many different types of, and often incomplete, data sources.

They will act as a liaison with key decision makers by providing data-informed strategic recommendations; engage with program and subject matter experts to define, obtain, and assess various data sets; and support optimization of pipeline data collection, management, and positioning strategies. This individual will directly contribute to development and prioritization of our strategic objectives by leading Business Case Analyses for new opportunities, conducting Analyses of Alternatives for strategic planning, and reporting recommendations to executive leadership for data-driven business decisions to improve our competitive positioning.

This position will work closely with a team of functional and program professionals across the company. This position may require up to 25% travel.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 4 or a level 5.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

New Business Assessment

  • Researching market trends, maintain competitor profiles, assess new market entrants/new capabilities

  • Conduct Business Case Analyses and Analyses of Alternatives for new strategies including comprehensive risk and impact assessments

  • Support data governance and processes for business pipelines and associated positioning strategies.

  • Analyzing USG budgets related to new technologies and digital transformation initiatives

  • Supporting development and presentation of executive level briefings

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Business or a related field and with 10+ years of related professional experience – OR – a Master’s degree with 8+ years of related professional experience.

  • Several years of experience in business management or forecasting.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 5:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Business or a related field and with 15+ years of related professional experience – OR – a Master’s degree with 13+ years of related professional experience.

  • Several years of experience in business management or forecasting.

Additional Basic qualifications for both levels:

  • Creative thinker with exceptional research and analytic skills

  • Experience conducting market research and business/financial analysis.

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to turn complex data into simple concepts

  • Exceptional executive level communication skills

  • Fluency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Salesforce  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or other master’s degree with significant data analysis is desirable.

  • Foundational knowledge and/or experience working with digital transformation initiatives and defense industry dynamics and competitors.

  • Fluency with Tableau and/or other data visualization tools

  • Familiarity with US Department of Defense warfighting concepts and technology needs.

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance (awarded within last 5 years).

Salary Range: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $141,800 USD - $212,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
