Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking an SCA Systems Support Specialist to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting the Mission Training Complex (MTC) at Fort Bliss, in Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and maintains the physical network required for the Fort Bliss MTC during exercises and classroom training

  • Resolves interoperability problems with email, file transfer, multimedia, VoIP, Mission Command systems, telephone, and video conferencing

  • Performs network and server administration duties and provides technical support and troubleshooting to users

  • Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the Cisco Call Manager and Cisco IP phone network

  • Performs network and server administration duties and provides technical support and troubleshooting to users

  • Provides cross training for other technicians

  • Maintains accountability and responsibility for all assigned equipment

  • Maintains strong knowledge of DoD / U.S. Army security documentation, system security engineering designs, and network information assurance concepts

  • Technical skills and experience include fundamentals of network design and system engineering, security practices, and awareness of resources to secure networks

  • Maintains technical skills related to documenting system security and network/server information assurance

  • Analyzes voice, video, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices

  • Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments

  • Analyzes network topologies, traffic and capacity requirements

  • Creates, plans, updates, and implements network standards and documentation and establish policies based on industry best practices

  • Designs LAN/WAN External Business Partner connectivity

  • Performs research on new products and technologies i.e. WAN Acceleration, VoIP, Video, VSS, MPLS, VPN, NAC, Wireless, multicast across WAN, new network security products, or data communication products

  • Evaluates current network infrastructure, procedures, processes, and network traffic, and recommends improvements

  • Monitors applicable network resources for updated requirements and compliance directions

  • Provides cybersecurity compliance status on site security posture IAW Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies by updating, reviewing, and maintaining required RMF documentation

    • To include but not limited to: Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM), hardware/software lists, network topology, and building information flow diagrams

  • Assists and performs duties as NIPR/SIPR Information Management Officer (IMO) on Fort Bliss Garrison Network Enterprise Center (NEC) devices to include NIPR/SIPR workstations, notebooks, printers, and VTC components

  • Travels to other sites as required to support customer requirements

  • Performs shift work when required by the customer

SCA hourly rate: $34.74; Health & Welfare (H&W) as specified in the applicable wage determination.

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years of experience in an information technology (IT) field

    • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an information technology (IT) field

    • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a network administrator and/or server administrator

  • Must be capable of configuring Ethernet/Fiber switches and routers

  • Candidate must be IAT level II Certified IAW DoD 8570.01. GSEC, CompTIA Security+ CE, SCNP, SSCP or higher

  • Must hold or obtain Computer Environment (CE) certification for all assigned Operating Systems support within 6 months of hire (this can be done on an approved DoD / U.S. Army site)

  • Must have or be able to obtain an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

    • At a minimum, a valid DoD interim Secret clearance will be required prior to start date

  • Must be a disciplined worker capable of meeting short suspenses without intense supervision

  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Bliss, in Texas

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in information technology or equivalent work experience

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) GSNA Certification

  • Joint or Division/Corps/theater staff experience

  • Must have administrative knowledge of Microsoft Server 2016/2019, Red Hat Linux, Windows 10, VMware and Hypervisor

  • Must have administrative knowledge of Active Directory, Domain Controller, Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and File Share services, Host Based Security System (HBSS), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), SolarWinds Orion


Salary Range: $35 USD - $35 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
