Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a motivated Principal Military Trainer – Work Area Commander / Maneuver Control Cell Coordinator (WAC/MCC) to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The WAC/MCC joins our support staff for Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) simulation command post exercises to train Division and Corps Commanders and their staffs during Warfighters (WFX) and Mission Rehearsal Exercises (MRX).
The selected candidate will be assigned as part of a planning team for an exercise rotation from initial planning through Mission Command Training (MCT) Seminar and Warfighter Exercises (WFX)/Mission Rehearsal Exercise (MRX) completion, and After Action Review process. The WAC/MCC Coordinator is part of the Plans and Exercises (PLEX) Directorate, and prepares Exercise Planning Team (EPT) Update Reports, Simulation Control Plans (SCP), and other contract deliverables in support of Mission Command Training Program Seminars and Warfighter Exercises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participates as necessary in the Joint Exercise Life-Cycle (JELC) planning events
Works side-by-side with other members of the Exercise and Simulation Support Directorates and the Scenario Design Division to plan and execute an MCTP Exercise rotation, starting with local EPT coordination meetings, to Initial Exercise Planning and Site Surveys (IEP/SS), Main Exercise Planning (MEP) and Final Exercise Planning (FEP)
Ensures smooth execution of MCT seminars and WFX by the entire Operations Group PLEX
Coordinates with the Lead Operations Group in the development of Simulation Control Plans
Works with other Division within Plans and Exercises Directorate (PLEX) to develop room builds and determines equipment and personnel needs for each exercise
Writes, publishes, and delivers Trip Reports minutes to the Contractor Lead for Exercise Life Cycle Events
Serves as a Maneuver Control Cell Coordinator in support of Warfighter Exercises at various training locations
Prepares computer simulations using exercise scenario command and control graphics
Prepares computer simulation by placing assigned units into doctrinal formations, situated to the terrain and in a tactically correct representation based on combat orders and the scenario
Ensures game fidelity is maintained throughout exercise planning and execution
Inputs computer orders and generates reports as directed
Keeps command post players apprised of current and unusual activity
May deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations
Basic Qualifications:
One of the following:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience
Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience
Knowledgeable of current Army/Joint doctrine
Highly proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)
Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree
U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or MEL 4 equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
Previous experience in computer assisted simulation training
Experience in WARSIM simulation
Division or Corps level staff officer experience
Prior experience as an Observer Controller/ Trainer
Active DoD Secret security clearance
A working knowledge of the U.S. Army doctrine
