Sr. Principal Military Trainer

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Military Trainer to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas.  The selected candidate will provide consulting expertise to military or defense clients in the development and evaluation of military training and doctrine.  The Military Trainer leverages specialized expertise in planning and executing some or all phases of military training exercises, including doctrinal development, scenario development, and after action review (AAR) and analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provides consulting expertise to military clients in the development and evaluation of military training and doctrine

• Acts as primary Exercise Support Directorate 2 (ESD2) Work Area Commander (WAC) / Contractor Point of Contact (CONPOC) teach/coach/mentor

• Captures, records, maintains, and updates all changes for ESD Team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

• Creates streamlined processes for CONPOC/APOCs to function and incorporate into the CONPOC SOP

• Provides guidance to ESD2 personnel (WAC/CONPOCS) regarding all exercise design related issues

• Ensures timely writing, publishing, and delivery of Trip Reports for Exercise Life Cycle Events contract deliverables (CDRL)

• Ensures all deliverables meet suspense dates while retaining highest quality by the team

• Reviews CDRL products for format and content quality prior to review by ESD Chief

• Understands and performs function of an Exercise Support Manning and Equipment Document (ESMED) Manager

• Attends changing and emerging doctrine and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) meetings (R&W/A, WFX special interests, etc...)

• Submits reports regarding discussion points, impact on operations, timelines, etc.

• Ensures CONPOC/APOCs maintain habitual relationship with other Operations Groups (OPSGRP’s) Analysts and POCs

• Coaches the ESD2 Assistant Contractor Point of Contact (APOC) Simulation Control Plan (SCP) coordination with the Lead Operations Group in the development of Simulation Control Plans

• Works with other Divisions within Plans and Exercises Directorate (PLEX) to develop room builds and determine equipment and personnel needs for each exercise

• Prepares computer simulations using exercise scenario and command and control graphics

• Prepares computer simulation by placing assigned units into doctrinal formations, situated to the terrain and in a tactically correct representation based on combat orders and the scenario

• Ensures the initial manning requirements for the initial Exercise Planning Travel Management System (EPTMS) setup/programming are performed

• Conducts duties of Work Area Commander (WAC) when required

Basic Qualifications:

• One of the following:

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 14 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

• Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

• Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)

• Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas

• Must be able to deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree

• Active DoD Secret clearance

Salary Range: $81,600 USD - $122,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
