Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems Division (TSS) designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. The Group is a leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.
The NG Tactical Space Division is seeking a Director of Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) (Director I) to report directly to the Tactical Space Systems Division Senior Director. This role leads a department of more than 100 engineers and technicians encompassing Mechanical, Electrical and Software disciplines and manages the Integration & Test activities at our Satellite Manufacturing Facility (SMF) in Gilbert, AZ. This role directs teams responsible for the complete integration and test effort for each spacecraft from subsystem assembly through launch site activities. With this Director’s guidance, the teams develop and maintain the Test and Integration Master Plan that allows multiple programs across multiple customer bases to be executed simultaneously. Each team executes the entire I&T effort of each program, guaranteeing quality and optimizing cost and schedule while meeting Program and Customer requirements. The team leads serve as the Cost Account Managers for the satellites during the I&T phase, interface with the program and the customer for all I&T and launch activities and review all related engineering products to ensure concurrent engineer design and the ability to build and test spacecraft.
This Director I is responsible for ensuring that their teams meet all satellite program AI&T, milestones are accomplished, including offsite launch campaigns, and the I&T space in the SMF is configured and maintained to accommodate multiple product lines and to execute the assembly, integration and test requirements of each satellite program. The AI&T Director’s organization provides operational support to programs with customers from NASA, Foreign and Domestic Commercial Satellite Operators, and various National Security customers. The AI&T Director manages and plans all I&T Capitol Support Equipment for multiple product lines and keeps the I&T areas in a working 5S condition. Additionally, this Director I will need be required to help develop and grow the team as the Gilbert site expands rapidly over the next several years   The successful candidate will have proven competence in managing their team performance as they execute day-to-day operations of a multi-team site including task organization, process definition and continuous improvement, staff development, supporting their CAM’s in cost and schedule management, and other functional responsibilities is a basic expectation. In addition, this Director must be able to communicate effectively with senior management, customer management, and will be a key member of the Gilbert Site Lead’s Leadership Team. The candidate will provide vision and leadership across the Division to peers, teammates and reports to drive not only meeting baseline commitments, but also to innovate to minimize cost, maximize efficiency, and to create new effective processes to meet the growing needs of the business.  Proven track record of motivational leadership and understanding how to manage an organization to accomplish multiple parallel programs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Excellent knowledge of Space Systems with one or more of the following:
5 years Systems Engineering experience
5 years of experience in satellite manufacturing, integration & test.
5 years of experience working with and managing production integration teams.
• Demonstrated technical team management capabilities and aerospace project management experience including earned value and scheduling.
• Experience and in-depth knowledge of manufacturing and business operations
• Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
• Prior experience interacting and communicating with senior executives both within and outside of the organization.
• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to efficiently manage competing demands. Ability to establish schedules and work flows with the capability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
• Experience in large scale systems integration.
• Ability to multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced setting. Detail and results oriented.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Security Clearance, US Citizenship.
• Ten plus years of leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a "STEM" field

Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in a Business or Operations related field or equivalent experience.
• Active or current Top Secret Security clearance with a current background investigation.
• Space/ground systems integration and/or satellite operations experience.
• Functional Management experience with over 100 people.
• Knowledge of and Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles.
