Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems is seeking a highly qualified, motivated, and engaged Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our team of diverse and extremely talented professionals to maintain innovative and complex systems located in Harrogate, UK.

The software team requires individuals with software engineering experience who can work in a structured, configuration controlled environment , primarily focused on the support and maintenance of real-time software applications.

Qualified candidate will be responsible for evaluating operational software problems and providing immediate solutions to restore service. Responsibilities also include the integration and verification of new baselines and must be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced team environment.

The Software Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support, maintenance and documentation of software applications
  • Determination of the operations feasibility of software modifications
  • Development of software tools to complement software maintenance activities
  • Verification that software standards are met
  • On-call 24/7 emergency anomaly response to support restoration of software operations

A comprehensive overseas compensation package, including relocation assistance, is provided. A two (2) year commitment is required.

Applicant must pass security/polygraph screening.

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Software Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with nine (9) years of applicable work experience - OR a Master’s Degree with seven (7) years of applicable work experience
  • Possession of an active SCI or DoD Top Secret with an SSBI and counterintelligence polygraph examination
  • Experience with C++, Java, and/or Python programming languages
  • Proficiency with VMS and/or LINUX/UNIX operating systems
  • Experience supporting, maintaining, and documenting software applications - Ability to read, understand, interpret, and communicate technical documentation/information, both written and orally, to a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Willingness to complete a two year overseas tour commitment
  • Willingness to complete a security/polygraph screening prior to beginning the assignment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of an active SCI or DoD Top Secret with an SSBI and counterintelligence polygraph examination completed within the last five (5) years
  • Software applications engineering experience on Atlantis, Rodeo, Rushmore, COAST, or associated development contracts

Salary Range: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD
