Principal / Senior Principal Engineer Propulsion

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently recruiting for a Principal or Senior Principal Propulsion Engineer to join our team at our Hill Air Force Base facility in Utah.

This position involves all aspects of sustaining the Minuteman III ICBM propulsion systems from depot level maintenance to static and flight tests. As required, this Project Engineer position works within a team alongside Air Force and other contractor counterparts to plan and execute aging surveillance tests at the system and component level; to support and analyze static and flight tests; to analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach and organized means to integrate new products, technologies, or materials into existing systems; to investigate flight and static test anomalies, determine root cause, and provide recommended countermeasures to the Air Force customer.

Minimum Requirements for a Principal Level:

•  Bachelor's of Science degree and least 5 or more years of related experience; or a master's degree at at least 3 or more years of related experience
• 5 or more years of experience in solid rocket motor or ordnance component design, analysis, manufacturing, project engineering, or systems engineering
• Strong, proactive, analytical problem-solving skills, and ability to deal with ambiguity
• Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information at all organizational levels both internal and with Government customers
• Willing and able to be flexible in work assignments, which may vary frequently, e.g., analysis, design, project engineering, systems engineering
• Able to see how the system works (big picture) while working on individual components (details)
• Ability to obtain or currently posses a DoD clearance

Minimum Requirements for a Senior Principal Level:

•  Bachelor's of Science degree and least 9 or more years of related experience; or a master's degree at at least 7 or more years of related experience
• 5 or more years of experience in solid rocket motor or ordnance component design, analysis, manufacturing, project engineering, or systems engineering
• Strong, proactive, analytical problem-solving skills, and ability to deal with ambiguity
• Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information at all organizational levels both internal and with Government customers
• Willing and able to be flexible in work assignments, which may vary frequently, e.g., analysis, design, project engineering, systems engineering
• Able to see how the system works (big picture) while working on individual components (details)
• Ability to obtain or currently posses a DoD clearance

Preferred Requirements: 

• Experience in the development of programs or project leadership roles
• Team leadership experience and the ability to direct others
• Experience with the coordination of engineering efforts across multiple design and analysis groups as well as teams consisting of multiple disciplines
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining focused results within reliability, quality, schedule, and budget requirements / constraints
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems (Examples: experience with Decision Focus, Fault-tree, Kepner-Tregoe, Fishbone diagrams)

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
