Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Training Curriculum Designer/Trainer to join the Operations Training team on the NRO Operations and Launch Support (NOALS) contract at Schriever SFB, CO. Our ideal candidate will design, manage, and maintain training products that will be delivered to operations work center trainers in support of their training needs. As a lead curriculum designer, the selected candidate will be required to lead, manage and guide a team of training developers in the design and development of training material to support classroom training, on-job-training (OJT), computer-based training (CBT), mission exercises, and certification check rides for launch integration and operations, satellite integration and operations, and orbital analysis.
Specific responsibilities include:
Set training development policy and standards
Determine training development schedules
Manage the daily activities of the training development team
Provide Instructional Systems Design (ISD) expertise and guidance to the team and enterprise
Determine ISD software needs such as ISD automation, CBT software, and learning management system (LMS) needs
Develop training material IAW Instructional System Design processes (ISD) supporting classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and computer-based training.
Perform Training Needs, Job, and Task Analyses
Develop training standards such as Job Qualification Standards (JQS) and Course Training Standards (CTS)
Develop objectives and measurement instruments
Develop instructional materials such as lesson plans, student/trainee guides, and instructional media, job aides and other training materials as necessary
Perform training validation and evaluation, train the trainer, and maintain trainee records
This position can be staffed at a level 3 or 4, based on the basic qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Active Top Secret/SCI with current Polygraph
Level 3: Bachelors and 6 Years or Masters and 4 years. 4 additional years of relevant experience required in lieu of a degree.
Level 4: Bachelors and 10 Years or Masters and 8 years. 4 additional years of relevant experience required in lieu of a degree.
Previous ISD and courseware development experience to include analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation phases
Excellent understanding of ADDIE, PADDIE, or SAT models
Knowledge of learning theory and diverse instructional methodologies
Able work collaboratively in a team environment across operations and engineering disciplines to accomplish mission goals.
Able to excel in a fast-paced mission focused environment and meet rapid development timelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a training or education discipline
Web/video/computer-based training development experience
Ability to bring innovative and creative approaches to improve training quality and effectiveness
2+ years’ experience in designing and developing space operations training
2+ years’ experience in leading a training development work center
Experience utilizing training development tools such as Adobe Captivate or Camtasia
Experience in platform instruction, coach/pupil method, and “training the trainer.”
Experience in conducting performance evaluations
Experience in learning management system (LMS) administration
