Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Consulting Chief Engineer to join our Launch and Missile Defense Systems team located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will demonstrate a broad skill set balanced between interpersonal and technical capabilities. You will have the ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the organization as required to accomplish team goals.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of specialized chief engineers and product architects in the enhancement of a large-scale missile defense weapon system.

• Support the Program Director and Customer in technical decision-making to ensure timely, high quality product deliveries and flight test events.
• Solve complex problems across projects and disciplines in an Agile, DevSecOps environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline and at least 20 years of experience; or MS and 18 years; or PhD and 15 years.

• Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance.

• Extensive technical leadership and development experience with Missile Defense systems.

• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
• Proven collaboration with program managers and customer representatives to meet project objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to manage efforts in an Agile and DevSecOps process model.
• Track record of successfully analyzing, estimating, and implementing solutions to complex problems spanning multiple engineering disciplines.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and its elements.

• Expertise with containerized software systems in accordance with DoD DevSecOps Reference Design

• Expertise with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE)

• Expertise with Cyber Resilient systems and Risk Management Framework

• Experience bidding new work scope and developing Statements of Work
• Experience delivering products and services on Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs in accordance with MAP/PMAP standards
• Active Top Secret DoD Security Clearance


Salary Range: 171200 - 256800

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
