Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL is currently seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Command and Control (IAMD) Battle Command System (IBCS) foreign military sales (FMS) capture effort for Poland.    

As the Chief Engineer you will be the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (hardware/software/support/test) and leads a multi-disciplined engineering team managing the technical performance of the program meeting cost and schedule requirements including subcontracted elements. In this role, the selected candidate will lead a staff of engineers that execute and support new business capture, systems engineering and architecture development, risk reduction trade analysis, prototype development, and execution of the breadth of engineering disciplines required to plan and execute the development and delivery of battle management and command and control capabilities.  You will provide technical leadership and oversight of the program, allocate and coordinate engineering resources over an IPT structure. You will lead the development and execution of technical reviews. You will partner with IPT leads to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative Engineering solutions that apply new technologies as well as common designs and products that enabling rapid development, prototyping and affordable solutions.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Provide the technical direction for a high visibility program pursuit with targeted capture for 2023

• Manage and lead a cross functional team of high performing engineers developing advanced systems designs and concepts.

• Direct IPT leads to ensure program objectives, technical requirements and schedule are met

• Interfacing with the design and implementation engineers and architects to ensure that robust and compliant designs are developed

• Manage engineering resources, staffing, and budget execution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current active Secret clearance
  • BS in Engineering (or related) discipline
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in systems and product development
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills, decisiveness, and ability to make sound technical judgements with limited information
  • Ability to perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Integrated Air and Missile Defense systems
  • Sensor and Effector Domain Knowledge as it relates to Battle Management Systems
  • Familiarity with Operational Analysis and CONOPS development
  • IBCS experience
  • International (FMS) experience

Salary Range: 145000 - 195000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
