If this sounds like a position, you will excel at and put your experience to work as a member of the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS) technical staff. The position, located in Huntsville, Alabama, supports the WISLA IBCS, which is a ground transportable, tactical integrated air and missile defense command and control system.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Support multimedia developmental needs of the WISLA program that include two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) output, as well as web-based and interactive media, to communicate technical specifications and instructions clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.

Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, select drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. Conduct quality review of materials.

Perform as a key member of an AGILE development team, create user stories, tasks and/or issues, and subtasks to plan and execute training material improvement to include updates to the material, and create digital products to meet program instructional requirements.

Create and update all multi-platform software user manuals (digital and print) for end-users, photograph and record components needed for asset creation, and assist in team planning procedures. These tasks will support training of WISLA students throughout the life of the project.

Basic qualifications for a Grade 3 are:

Minimum 5 years of experience with Bachelor’s in Science; 3 years of experience with master’s degree. Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Training, Communications, or other field related to multimedia designing, writing, and production.

Two to five years of experience in design and development of Computer Based Training (CBT) technology instructional materials. A combination of education and experience may be substituted to include experience in the following areas: computer based adult training; instructional design; course writing; distance learning. Working knowledge of military technical documents related to training development, training delivery, and integrated logistics support [Army Regulation (AR)s; Military Specifications (MIL-SPEC), Technical Bulletins, Integrated Electronic Technical Manual (IETM)s, Software User Manual (SUM)s, Data Item Description (DID)s, etc.].

Strong writing, editing, and speaking skills. Must write in a clear and concise manner, possess excellent English composition and grammar skills

  • Strong multimedia design skills

  • Experience documenting software installation, operation, and system administration

  • Ability to quickly grasp and communicate technical subjects clearly and concisely

  • Strong interviewing and listening skills; must be able to ask the right questions of the Subject Matter Expert (SME)s

  • Strong usability and testing skills; must take an active role in validation of documentation

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to work and adjust to changes in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Must be a team player

  • Must be self-managing and self-motivated

  • Advanced Microsoft Office product suite skills

  • Intermediate Adobe Creative Suite Skills, to include Flash, InDesign, Captivate, and Photoshop

  • Basic JIRA issue and project software skills to include issue and sub-task creation, task assignment, and status updates



Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Expert Captivate skillset with experience using the computer-generated voice plug-in or Instructional Systems Development (ISD) Certification with three years of experience writing these types of training products International Trade Compliance (ITC) or Total Army Instructor Training Course (TAITC) Certification with Senior or Master Instructor Certification

  • Technical Editing/Writing Certifications

  • Formal Adobe Creative Suite training and/or certifications

  • 6+ years of experience designing and developing Computer-based Training (CBT) that is SCORM 1.2 and/or 4.0 compliant for use on a Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Certification in AGILE/SAFe, such as Scrum Master, DevOps, Product Management, etc.

  • Experienced at creating user stories

  • Experience working with US Air Defense or Missile Systems

  • Possess active Secret Clearance


Salary Range: $69,300 USD - $103,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
