Northrop Grumman Space Launch and Missile Defense Systems Engineering is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Systems Engineer focusing in the area of Change Management to join our team of qualified diverse individuals located in Huntsville, AL.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply interdisciplinary, collaborative approaches to plan and execute the Northrop Grumman Corporation Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Ground Systems (GS) change engineering and change management program activities to maintain and establish program baselines
  • Lead the coordination and administration of GS change engineering activities relative to identification and creation, control of changes, and process integration in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Actively support engineering change boards/meetings internally and customer based, to include Program Change Control Board (PCCB), Green Room, and Technical Brown Room, and others as required
  • Interface with and support GS Program Director, functional organizations, and product/project teams by being responsible for initiating, developing, submitting, processing, approving, and implementing engineering changes to establish and comply with the GMD Program contracts and configuration baselines
  • Experience applying systems engineering processes and principles, with the desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels for Agile development processes being focused on quality and capability delivery
  • Participates in process improvement activities by contributing innovations and suggestions for adapting policy to unique situations, and updating processes and procedures as required

Basic Qualifications: This position may be filled at either a Principal or Sr Principal Systems Engineer level

  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor of Science with 5 years of experience; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
  • Sr Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor of Science with 9 years of; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance to start.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to program and project management, other technical managers, and customers as required
  • Ability to travel 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity and experience with use of the Customer based Integrated Digital Environment (IDE) Windchill tool for control of change management artifacts such as Change Request Sheets (CRS), Variances, Field Engineering Change (FEC), Temporary Design Departure (TDD), and etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and systems thinking mindset
  • Excellent decision making and interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a collaborative, Agile integrated product team (IPT) environment
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and processes
  • Experience/domain knowledge of GMD system architecture, requirements, interface definition, verification, and validation concepts and approaches

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
