Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Software Engineering Manager 2 for the GBSD program. This leadership role can be located in Roy, UT.

The successful candidate will:
As a Department Manager you will be the leader for a team of approximately 15-25 software, systems, and hardware engineers.  These engineers will be conducting Weapon System Design Integration work scope (specifically for the Operational Control and Command Enterprise Software and Hardware sub-Element teams) in support of the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

Functional Management Duties Include:
• Management of time keeping, performance reviews, staffing and resources planning, training, and overall engagement for their department.
•Ensuring members have sufficient statement of work, balancing resources among programs, and verifying proper charging practices are followed.
• Managing member performance, creating and delivering performance evaluations, overseeing the salary review process, and supervising employee development and mentoring efforts (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers)
• Coordinating with GBSD leadership to ensure appropriate staffing/destaffing actions are developed and executed relative to their department and managing employee movement between programs.
• Presenting to program management, other technical managers and customers
• Meeting indirect budget targets and interpreting higher level guidance for implementation within the organization for process implementation and improvement.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM-related field of study and 6 years of experience

• At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain SAP
• Experienced in EVMS in an Agile environment
• U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:
•10 years of scheduling experience and expert proficiency in project planning or other related scheduling tools as demonstrated by an understanding of the tool's properties and functions, including:

  • exports and imports, multi-project consolidation, inter-project linkage ability to create a variety of views, tables, filters, and reports.

• Strong ability to communicate unique problems and recommend potential process/business solutions in an Agile environment
• Must have a successful track record of program performance, interpersonal team building skills, and management experience
•Demonstrated expert knowledge when using Schedule Health Analysis tools and Schedule Risk Assessment tools
•Working knowledge of EVMS guidelines and processes.
•CAM certification


Salary Range: $130,500 USD - $195,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
