Are you ready to join Northrop Grumman? If so, put your experience to work as a member of the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS) technical field support staff. The position supports the US Army IBCS System of Systems (SoS), which is a ground transportable, tactical integrated air and missile defense command and control system. Put your experience to work as a Principal Network Engineer to assist with the implementation and execution of worldwide field support operations supporting the US Army customer foreign military sales case, Poland.

This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama with possible relocation or extended travel to Poland for equipment fielding or technical support. The Principal Network Engineer role requires approved Security certification and an approved Operating System (OS) certification within six months from the date of hire.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems

  • Analyze problems with existing equipment, design and implement corrective actions and modifications and implement system changes to meet requirements of the IBCS SoS

  • Support Operations and Maintenance by providing support of the IBCS SoS in both lab and field environments

  • Analyzing equipment problems, isolating causes and taking proper action to resolve problems

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all IBCS SoS

  • Assist in the integration of approved equipment modifications into the existing system architecture

  • Support program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on a rotational basis as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's + 5 years of exp: Master's + 3 years of exp; PhD + 0 years of exp or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree

  • Must have at least 5 years of work experience with Cisco hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, or other related networking equipment

  • Expertise with IPv4 and IPv6 networks, network design and management, including IP sub netting and protocols, and SoS network management

  • Experience with Linux Operating systems (RHEL 7)

  • Must possess organized, logical thought process skills, exhibit a strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Must poses excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and leadership

  • The ability to install and uninstall (lift) devices weighing 35 pounds

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Security and Operating System certifications (i.e., Security +, Linux +)

  • Advanced network certification

  • Experience with IA/Cybersecurity

  • Knowledge of Air Defense Command and Control systems

  • Work well in a fast-paced agile environment

  • Experience operating, maintaining, and instructing the IBCS SoS


Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
