Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Data Scientist. This position will be located in Huntsville, Alabama and will be part of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program (Minuteman III ICBM replacement) development contract. Learn more about the GBSD program here. 




Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.



The Operational Command and Control (OC2) Staff Data Scientist will create data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets.    



The Data Scientist will be subject matter expert in technical knowledge, to create data analysis methodologies, data mining, and data presentation methods; including data architecture models, data classifications, Extract, Transport, and Load (ETL) recommendations.  



The Data Scientist will also prescribe and create data architecture definitions from design to deployment, serve as a liaison, spoke person, and data expert for all OC2 subsystems.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

 You'll Bring These Qualifications: 
 
  • Masters or PHD with emphasis in Data Analytics or STEM
  • 12 Years of related experience with a Masters degree; 9 Years with PhD.
  • Data Analytics and Data Mining experience within last 5 years.
  • Strong statistical and data visualization skills.
  • US Citizenship with an Active TS/SCI Clearance (awarded within the past 6 years)
 
 
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 
  • PHD with emphasis in Data Analytics/Science Dissertation
  • Data Analytics and Data Mining experience within last 2 years
  • Requires strong statistical and data visualization demonstrated work within last 2 years
