Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation team based out of Melbourne, FL.
As a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team encompassing the full product lifecycle of a software development and test environment using your knowledge of operating system administration, web app design, and security monitoring tools.
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities may include:
- Performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
- Analyzing total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and sustainment.
- Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline AND 5 years of qualifiable professional/military experience in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline; OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of qualifiable professional/military experience in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline; OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs, prior to the start of employment
- Must possess a current DoD 8570 Level 2 Certification (i.e. Security+ CE or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
- Demonstrated experience in the managing operating systems, e.g., (Windows Sever and desktop environments).
- Demonstrated experience in implementing access controls and utilizing monitoring tools to detect and respond to security incidents.
- Proficiency in the administration of web applications with a focus on the identification and resolution of performance issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Splunk, Nessus, and/or SolarWinds
- Experience with Atlassian, Jira, Coverity, and Fortify
- Experience working with DevOps Processes and Cloud Infrastructure
- Systems administration experience, to include Windows, Linux, and VM environments
- Understanding of enterprise-level computing platforms involving virtualization, distribution and high availability
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
