In the Defense Systems sector, you’ll join our experts in developing systems that keep our world safe. Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Cyber Software Engineer to support the enhancement and maintenance of several secure training solutions for a U.S. Air Force customer.
The position supports our Engineering organization’s goals to meet the current and future needs of the programs and technologies within the sector portfolio. This role will help foster the establishment and maintenance of a world class Software and Digital Technologies organization in Orlando, FL.

This position is located in Orlando, FL.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing quarterly software security patches
- Developing software enhancements
- Troubleshooting, debugging, and remediating software bugs
- Hardening and testing software releases
- Configuring, securing, and administering development systems and infrastructure
- Developing and maintaining test plans, user manuals, and other technical documentation
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 5 years of relevant work experience OR M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 3 years of relevant work experience, OR Ph.D and 0 years of relevant work experience. NOTE: 4 years of relevant work experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Demonstrated experience developing secure software applications using Java, Pearl, or Python
- Demonstrated experience with BASH or similar scripting languages
- Experience developing applications in a Linux environment such as Red Hat
- Experience with DevOps Tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Nexus, Jira
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a DoD 8570 IAT Level II security certification (i.e. Security+) within 6 months of hire
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
- DoD IAT Level III security certification (i.e. CISSP)
- Experience with Modeling and Simulation development
- Experience with hardening systems following DoD guidelines and security best practices
- Experience with software vulnerability scanning and remediation
