Northrop Grumman’s Enterprise Services (ES) Operations Accounting team is seeking a Principal Accountant, reporting to ES’ Manager of Labor & Operations Accounting.  Specifically, we are seeking an individual to serve as the team’s Blackline Administrator and perform accounting work related to accounts payable, payroll and cash management.  The Blackline Administrator acts as the primary owner for the Blackline reconciliation tool, providing day to day support, governance, and oversight of the application and ensures adherence to tool design and data management.  Additionally, the BlackLine Administrator assists business managers and users with identifying and implementing process improvements that produce quantifiable benefits, offering continuous improvement recommendations, developing & delivering system enhancements, and providing training to the accounting teams.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Accounting Responsibilities

  • Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information from multiple organizations including, but not limited to, accounts payable, payroll and cash management
  • Adherence to accounting, regulatory and auditing policies & procedures (including SOX)
  • Proactively stay current on GAAP and best practices
  • Interact with senior internal/external personnel on accounting matters often requiring coordination between organizations
  • Communicate regularly with the Labor & Operations Manager, Operations Team Lead, and key stakeholders
     

Blackline Responsibilities

  • Serve as the administrator for the BlackLine application
  • Train global users on Blackline functionality
  • Provide ongoing end-user support
  • Ensure the application is operating efficiently and effectively
  • Produce dashboard reports to help maintain on-time accounting cycle functions and monitor the ongoing reconciliation process, presenting results to management
  • Liaison with IT on user issues, application upgrades, system maintenance and projects as it relates to BlackLine and other integrations to/from the tool
  • Perform ongoing application maintenance.  Coordinate upgrade, development, testing, and implementation of application enhancements with users and IT.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects focused on driving best practices and consistency
  • Partner with key business stakeholders in building a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing program of transformation
  • Assist and provide guidance to manage Blackline service provider
  • Communicate regularly with the Labor & Operations Manager, Operations Team Lead, IT, and key stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline with six years of professional experience Or four years of professional experience with a master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Complete understanding and application of accounting principles, concepts, practices, and standards
  • Knowledge and experience with ERPs (SAP)
  • Knowledge and experience with Blackline
  • Project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Salary Range: $72,700 USD - $109,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
