Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector (NGDS) is seeking an Aircraft Structures Mechanic 3 on the F-18 program based in Jacksonville, FL.  In this position, you will perform a variety of Depot Level operations to assemble and repair major aircraft structures such as fuselage panels, longerons, stringers, formers, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. Aligns parts on jigs using templates and fixtures. Performs such part-fitting operations as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming. Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions. May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.  Plans, lay's out, fabricates, assembles, install and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures at the Depot level

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft and engine systems.
  • Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions. Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
  • Maintains FAA required records, manuals and inspection forms. Requires an airframe and power license.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with 4 years of directly related work experience
  • Must have a minimum of an interim Secret Clearance to start; and must be able to obtain a final Secret Clearance for continued employment
  • Able to use common hand tools such as: drills, reamers, demurrers, files, rivet guns, bucking bars, etc.
  • Able to assemble aircraft structures and associated components with the aid of jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, honing, reaming, counter-sinking, dimpling, burring and fastening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • F-18 experience
  • A&P License
  • Active Secret clearance

Salary Range: 50300 - 83900

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
