Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced personnel with P-3 aircraft background to support a contingent maintenance program with Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The CBP P-3 fleet consists of Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and Long Range Tracker (LRT) high-endurance, all-weather, tactical turbo-prop aircraft. The AEW aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. The LRT aircraft are used to intercept, track airborne and surface threats in source and transit zone countries. The P-3 aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art, highly sophisticated sensor equipment, i.e., radar, electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) detecting systems.

Northrop Grumman has an opening for an Aircraft Mechanic 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Green Cove Springs, Florida with detachment locations both CONUS and internationally.

  • You will troubleshoot, repair and service P-3 aircraft and engine and airframe systems. Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions.
  • Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications and engineering instructions.
  •  You will maintain and repair U. S. Customs and Border Protection P-3 aircraft, aircraft systems and components including, but not limited to T-56 engines, 54H60-77 propellers, auxiliary power units, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, oxygen and mechanical components.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years of multi-engine transport category aircraft experience with proven ability to troubleshoot P-3 aircraft mechanical, engine and propeller systems, airframe, hydraulic and landing gear systems and components.
  • Ability to obtain a FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate or be a highly qualified applicant who is able to provide documentation (FAA Form 8610-2.) giving them the authorization to test OR obtain A&P certificate within one year of hire.
  • Ability to use personally owned hand tools and comply with a 100% tool accountability and control process; Use customer provided tools requiring calibration and specialized test equipment and have the physical ability to become respirator qualified and work in confined spaces.
  • An Active Secret Level Security Clearance AND Ability to obtain/maintain a Department of Homeland Security CBP Background Investigation; Interim CBP Background Investigation is required to start 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current A&P certification.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, isolate problems and repair all P-3 aircraft mechanical, electrical, engine and propeller systems excluding avionics.
  • Experience on P-3 aircraft in the structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies.
  • P-3 engine turn qualification
  • Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent
  • Current Active CBP Security Credentials
  • Active TS Security Clearance

Salary Range: 1 - 1

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
