Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for you to join our growing team as a Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer at our Advanced Aerospace Structures Facility in Kettering (Dayton), OH. We are a unique blend of scientists, engineers, and technicians that specialize in Low Observable antennas, radomes, electromagnetic structures, and RF testing primarily for aerospace applications. We design and manufacture solutions for our war fighters to keep our country safe and maintain peace on a global scale. Our electrical engineering group (RF Microwave Design) is afforded the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art designs, primarily for classified applications, in both team and individual settings.  Our multi-faceted team consists of engineers and scientist with backgrounds in electrical engineering, LO technology, CEM, RF test, mechanical, structural, thermal, CFD, material science, process, and quality.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Team-focused research, manufacturing support, design, analysis, prototyping, and RF test using state-of-the-art measurement equipment (e.g. SCI-2K, waveguide, 52’x42’x90’ RCS Compact Range) of electromagnetic structures and materials
  • Design and test of advanced structures using materials such as loaded honeycomb core and/or similar core geometries, loaded foams and elastomers, MAGRAM, R-Cards, Circuit Analog sheets / absorbers, and Frequency Selective Surfaces
  • Lead qualification and recurring test events to ensure compliance to requirements; major responsibility to RF test, but can also include qualification and ESS test events
  • Monitor the quality of the materials produced, establishing test criteria to ensure that the end products meet specifications
  • Support technical design reviews and provide technical guidance to the program office
  • Author test procedures and test reports as needed
  • Collaborate with multifunctional teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Customers, Suppliers, and Quality
