Northrop Grumman Payload and Ground Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. At Advanced Technologies Solutions (ATS) Operating Unit we have an opening for a Quality Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Lanham, MD


Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join a dynamic, innovative team that produces a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical assemblies and subsystems.  The Quality Engineer will be responsible for assuring Purchase Order requirements include provisions to ensure contractual compliance, The Quality Engineer will collaborate with the Supply Chain to monitor Supplier performance. The Quality Engineer with work with Components Engineering to ensure compliance to customers’ requirements are communicated and maintained   during the procurement process.


  • Verify Requirements of procured parts/material during receiving inspection of mechanical and EEE components as prescribed by inspection plan, engineering documentation and purchase order.

  • Perform source Inspection at supplier of procured parts/material mechanical and EEE components as prescribed by inspection plan, engineering documentation and purchase order.

  • Perform prohibited material verification using XRF.

  • Review mechanical inspection reports IAW AS9102 (FAI)

  • Verify Requirements of procured shelf life material during receiving inspection as prescribed by inspection plan, engineering documentation and purchase order.

  • Create non-conformance reports for parts/material found to be non-compliant to inspection plan, engineering documentation and purchase order and communicate to PMRB for disposition.

  • Must be capable of building relationships with Suppliers that will positively affect their performance.

  • Directly support Production and Test activity utilizing MES system 

  • Develop production inspection plans to ensure program requirements are met.

  • Perform in-process inspections IAW NASA 8739 standard or other industry recognized workmanship standard.

  • Participate in disposition of non-conforming material IAW internal procedures

  • Support on-site and off-site test activity. Support will include verification of test set-up and review of test data

  • Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision while meeting expectations in support of the Program.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree and 2 years’ experience, or 5 years of relevant experience  in lieu of degree

  • Experience in high-reliability field such as aerospace, space flight, medical etc. 

  • Experience in production/manufacturing environment

  • U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge Configuration Management System “ISE/CADSTAR”

  • Knowledge document control system “Command Media”

  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar compliance auditing 

  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems, e.g., SAP, Solumina, etc. 

  • Supplier Chain knowledge

Salary Range: $56,300 USD - $84,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
