The Networked Information Solutions Division is seeking a Business Development Director to join their team to lead our Command and Control of Intelligent Systems business development organization.  This role is located in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area.

The selected candidate will work with the Strategic Initiatives OU leadership team to define the business development strategy, develop a customer engagement plan, grow a business pipeline, and win new business within the C2 of Intelligent Systems and Advanced Processing domain areas.  This is a “hands on” business development role to shape and grow a new program portfolio aligned to a high priority strategic thrust area for NIS Division.  Pursuits will be identified, qualified and prioritized according to the NG Business Acquisition Process.  

The primary objective of this role is to establish an effective team operating rhythm and lead the organization focused on developing and winning new business in a key strategic growth area for the company.  The Director will be responsible for leading a team of business development professionals chartered with developing technological offerings that enable the next generation of AI-enabled mission systems.  The role requires understanding of technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced processing, networking and communications as well proven track record of customer engagement across DoD and IC.  The successful candidate will bring a rich experience set that can support the breadth of NIS capabilities and demonstrate an ability to engage effectively and efficiently with teams in a highly collaborative model.  The candidate will also demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Business Acquisition Process and proven customer engagement and pipeline development/execution success.  The selected leader will also have a proven track record of driving business through effective strategy and innovation that has led to increased value creation across the enterprise.  Candidate will be able to collaborate, based on their direct experiences, on overall business deal shaping approaches and pricing strategies. This position reports to the NIS Senior Director of Strategy & Growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing thought leadership in the successful implementation of the division’s C2 of Intelligent Systems and Advanced Processing strategies. Lead the strategic growth team to define the business development strategy focusing on both internal and external customers, develop and execute the customer engagement plan, identify and qualify new business opportunities that achieve the growth goals for the division.
  • Responsible for the development of customer engagement & growth strategies across the C2 of Intelligent Systems and the Advanced Processing portfolio, in collaboration with the Division, Business Units, Functions and cross-Sector teams.
  • Responsible for the fiscal management of the business development budget supporting C2 of Intelligent Systems and Advanced Processing strategic growth areas
  • Creating, maintaining and implementing a customer engagement strategy and senior customer visit plan across domestic and international military, government, and industry leadership. Creating and delivering an extraordinary customer experience with follow-up.
  • Develop, implement and manage a process and strategies for new business capture that results in competitive capture and improved win rate, including proposal management support that ultimately drives growth for the Division.
  • Knowledgeable in Customer Relationships Management (CRM) tools (e.g. Salesforce) while following the process standards of the Northrop Grumman Business Acquisition Process (BAP).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline is required and a minimum of 15 years’ of BD/capture or related experience.
  • Experience with all components of the DoD, military services, and the Intelligence Community.
  • Hands-on experience in leading a team and proven track record of winning large, complex opportunities and experience in customer engagement to “create” and win new opportunities.
  • Experience in the development of technical proposals, white papers and cost proposals.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Demonstrated, effective communication skills, with the ability to use them in informing, presenting, negotiating and problem solving with a wide range of people and leadership.
  • Track record of delivering differentiated and/or discriminating solutions that have led to tangible new business growth.
  • A results driven attitude and a proven capability of working in a collaborative environment across distributed locations and organizations.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diverse functional and line management backgrounds including those with P&L leadership
  • Technical understanding and experience in artificial intelligence and/or advanced processing to include hardware and software.
  • Experience transitioning technologies from S&T customers to programs of record
  • Agile Experience to include use of Confluence and Jira
  • Experience with DoD, and IC customers and pursuits

Salary Range: 171900 - 257900

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
