Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) is seeking Test Software Engineers to join the Remote Sensing Programs Software team to help test, enhance and maintain software on cutting edge space products and systems. As an Experienced Test Software Engineer, you will be part a team that designs, develops, modifies and executes automated software test plans; analyzes and writes test standards and procedures; and works closely with software development in resolution of problems and software verification. The systems the software engineer will be working on are focused on sensor command and control (embedded systems), sensor system test (command of test equipment and emulation) and/or sensor data processing (algorithm development/implementation and high-performance computing) for a variety of Space platforms. Selected individuals will work on an agile development team, primarily using TCL or Python for real-time system testing. The individual will work through all phases of the software development cycle including design, development, integration, and test.

All job functions require close teamwork across functional disciplines and integrated product teams in a fast paced environment. The selected individual will conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and additional technical documents.

The responsibilities include active participation in cross-functional scrum teams, design reviews, and other reviews, as required. The selected individual will actively participate in technical peer reviews to ensure system/software requirements are being met from an end to end system point of view. Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a team environment. Existing engineering and system specialists will be made available to assist with any activities associated with executing primary tasking. However, the selected individuals will be expected to prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required, to implement tasking assigned. While not all positions will require a clearance to start, all positions are contingent on the candidate’s ability to obtain and hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

This position is located in Linthicum, MD.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • Experience developing in Python, and/or C/C++
  • Experience with test automation on integrated applications
  • Design, build, and test high quality reusable automated test harnesses and modules
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Ability to obtain and hold a DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building maintainable automation frameworks (eg Python, TCL, JavaScript) and leveraging continuous build (CI/CD)
  • Complete familiarity with modern software development processes such as CI/CD, testing, design documentation and source control conventions
  • Experience as a member of an Agile Scrum team
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket)
    • One or more of the following
      • Experience with Scalable Node Architecture (SNA), Model Based Engineering or Model Driven Design
      • Experience with signal processing development and optimization
      • Experience developing in Matlab
      • Experience with Docker containers and orchestration using Kubernetes
      • Experience developing scaled application in AWS or MS Azure
      • Experience with MySQL databases

Salary Range: 119800 - 179600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
