Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector (NGMS) is a leading global provider of secure software-defined, hardware enabled mission systems. Our company is pioneering capabilities in a wide variety of sectors that keep our nation and our allies safe from undersea to space and cyberspace. NGMS is seeking an embedded software manager to join out Secure Processing team within the Software Technologies Organization. As the Embedded Software Manager you will be responsible for the technical and financial execution as the Control Account Manager on a large, high visibility program. The successful candidate will be a demonstrated leader, collaborative, flexible, and a strong team builder.

The Embedded Software Manager is responsible for understanding and translating the current software development into Earned Value Management, briefing program management, customers, and providing future personnel and financial forecasts to executive management. The Manager will be familiar with embedded software development and Agile framework execution. They will also be responsible for the management of up to 15 direct reports helping to set goals, conduct performance reviews, guide and help with career development, and support their direct reports as needed.

This position is located in Linthicum, MD.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software engineering, including all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline can be substituted for 2 of those years

  • Candidates must have an ACTIVE US DoD security clearance at the Secret Level or higher

  • Experience leading software engineering teams of moderate to large size, particularly using Agile methods

  • Program Management knowledge of financial accounting and estimation, to cover both program proposal and execution

  • Experience briefing senior leadership, including producing executive briefing and effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Understanding and execution of Agile in a software development environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leading program(s) with Profit and Loss obligations

  • Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS)

  • Experience with embedded software development

  • Understanding of C/C++, Python, Linux, FreeRTOS

  • Tools: Git, Atlassian (BitBucket, Confluence, Jira), Jenkins, static & dynamic code analysis

Salary Range: $137,000 USD - $205,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
