Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS), a leader in software defined, hardware enabled systems for national defense applications, is developing a next-generation Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for Engineering and Manufacturing product and process data. This system will be the foundation of our digital transformation and the future of advanced Engineering and Manufacturing capabilities and automation within the company, including Model-Based Engineering and Additive Manufacturing.

As a member of the PLM Infrastructure Team, you will be participating in supporting the Mission PLM Teamcenter system in close collaboration with Enterprise Services/IT to maintain production, test, and development environments.

The Engineering Manufacturing Systems and Infrastructure (EMSI) group needs a qualified Teamcenter Administrator with a strong background in Teamcenter System Architecture including installation, deployments, and configuration. As part of our team, you will be responsible for supporting both Product Lifecycle Management projects and day-to-day management of environments across production, test, and development systems. The goal is to leverage your Teamcenter expertise to drive system standardization and optimization resulting in a sustainable, geographically disbursed system.

This position can be located at any of our NGC locations such as Linthicum, MD, Rolling Meadows, IL or other NGC campus based on successful candidate’s ability and qualifications.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Architect, install, upgrade, maintain, and configure all aspects of a business critical Teamcenter production, test, and development environments, including the following areas: web tier/pool manager, enterprise tier, FMS, Teamcenter Security Services, dispatcher services, rich client, active workspace client, and Teamcenter integrations for various ECAD, MCAD, and MBSE tools.

  • Perform application patching and deployments.

  • Work off-business hours, as needed, for urgent production systemic issues and deploying system changes.

  • Provide recommendations on architecture, design, and sizing of Teamcenter environments.

  • Perform tests for environment integrity and performance.

  • Continuously improve and optimize system architectural elements, such as FMS/FSC, enterprise servers, pool managers, web servers, translation servers, and cache servers for enhanced performance and scalability.

  • Participate as a Teamcenter expert to resolve key systemic production issues identified by the application support team.

  • Regularly monitor system tasks to ensure Teamcenter services and automated scripts are executing properly.

  • Create scripts or configure third party solutions to enable effective system health monitoring.

  • Perform Teamcenter system administrator activities such as removing process & data locks.

  • Develop processes and documentation to ensure MPLM systems are sustainable, and participate in disaster recovery exercises.

  • Articulate solution ideas with clarity – good communication and presentation skills.

  • Actively monitor and continuously improve the MPLM production environment to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with 5 years of technical experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related fields.  Or Master’s degree with 3 years of technical experience.

  • Demonstrated Product Lifecycle Management/Teamcenter experience in architecture, installation, and deployments, as well as Teamcenter System Administration and build support.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to proactively identify issues, find root cause and identify both temporary and permanent solutions.

  • A working knowledge of IT operating systems, and system administration – specifically Windows and Linux-based platforms.

  • Ability to comprehend complex software, hardware, and networking concepts.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting formal Root Cause Analysis and implementing Corrective Action.

  • Experience participating in technical teams with diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.

  • Experience with system administration of Apache, JBoss, and SOLR Indexing Engine or equivalent.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer (Level 4):

  • Bachelor of Science degree with 9 years of technical experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related fields.  Or Master’s degree with 7 years of technical experience.

  • Experience leading technical teams with diverse backgrounds.

  • Same requirements for Principal Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert level experience in Operations and Maintenance activities of IT infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of Teamcenter data model, customization, workflow development, and data import experience.

  • Experience installing and configuring additional Teamcenter applications including:

    • Active Workspace

    • Teamcenter Manufacturing

    • Shop Floor Connect

    • Single Sign On

    • Teamcenter Performance Monitoring

    • Automated Multiuser Testing

  • Demonstrated capability in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Teamcenter environment utilizing tools like TFS, Jira, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle or comparable RDBMS.

  • Prior knowledge of Siemens applications, customers, processes, and products.

  • Previous experience with Windows Internet Information Services.

  • Experience with complex Product Lifecycle Management Systems, especially Teamcenter applications related to Engineering and Manufacturing.

  • Experience with Agile and the SAFe methodology.

  • Knowledge of server administration tasks related to Teamcenter Enterprise.


Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
